My girlfriend and I had the great fortune of climbing Kilimanjaro through the TK Rongai route with Franck John from 24 to 31 August 2015. Frankie was simply awesome. If it were not because of Frankie and George Mauacha (the other guide, also exceptional) we would have not managed to reach the summit. I seriously mean it.
They arrived at the hotel to pick us up (5 minutes late that is why we have rated him with a 9, hehe!), reviewed the gear we had and, from then, take care of everything so that we could just relax, enjoy and focus on climbing.
During the whole week we spent together, Franck and George were extremely attentive to our needs, kind, approachable and funny (even laughing at my terrible jokes!), quite professional and respectful. They also taught us a lot, not only about the mountain and about climbing, but also about Tanzania, Kenya, swahili (Jambo mambo avarigane!), the different tribes of the country, the masais, the food, the religion, the animals, the plants and even the politics of the country! And they were eager to learn a few words of Spanish to joke with me. This attitude was very welcomed specially because we were climbing on a private climb, and there were no other climbers to talk to.
Attention to detail was simply spectacular. Constant reminders to drink water, questions about how we were feeling, briefings about what we were going to do everyday and explanations of the plants and the geography that surrounded us.
The service provided was so exceptional that we even were a little bit embarrassed. Hot water to wash ourselves in the morning and in the evening, a private chemical WC (probably not needed but welcomed!), a tent with two foldable chairs and a table (the chairs are a bless after so many hours walking!), pop corn waiting for us when we arrived in the afternoon, hot and delicious meals (Elisante and Julius master chefs!!!), pictures and reports every day to the office of Kilimanjaro Team... We were not expecting so much luxury and at the beginning we thought it might be excessive but... how grateful we were to have those little pleasures after a few days in the mountain!
During the last day of ascension to the summit, Franck, George and Athmani (another member of the crew) were essential. They helped us constantly, not only guiding us but also encouraging us to reach the top. At a certain point of time we were exhausted and they even took our day packs (which were like 5 kgs, nothing compare to the day pack they were carrying!!!) and climbed in front of us to literally lift us up to the top. And when we reached Gilman´s point Athmani gave us some hot tea. After 6 hours climbing it was literally a game changer.
When we came down, the whole crew was there to congratulate us singing a song. It was an amazing experience! After a week of climbing, we felt so close to them that we even felt sorry to leave them... :-(
For us, Franck, George and Team Kilimanjaro were simply the perfect choice. The technical route TK Rongai made the difference helping us by acclimatizing every day a little bit.
We have not rated certain skills of Franck that we did not see (like obedience to orders, he was the chief guide!!!), and we have given him a 10 on everything but punctuality (a 9, they arrived 5 minutes late and we did not want him to have a perfect score to tease him a little bit, ok Francky Ponchy?:-). Also, we have rated him a 10 in the category Frugal with resources in the sense that he managed to do everything that was needed with the little he has, but for sure they were not frugal with the food they gave us: I got a Kilimanjaro belly!!!
We also want to thank the whole team for the kindness and their constant smiles. Thank you Franck, George, Alisanti, Franck, Josephat, Athmani, Inocenti, Carlitos (what a singer and a dancer!), Tino, Danieli, Kassmu, Julius and Abdi. We would have not made it without you!!!

Frank John was the lead guide on my recent hike up Mt Kilimanjaro. He and his assistant guide, Felix, got my friend and I to the top! We had a few issues come up along the way, and he was able to handle them well and keep on going. He was very responsive to our requests and needs while always putting safety first. I would highly recommend Frank to anyone climbing Kilimanjaro.

Team Kilimanjaro overall was also very easy to work with and able to be flexible to our needs as hikers - great job Team Kili! I'm still not sure how our cook, Elisante, made such great meals on the mountain but I'll take him camping any day!

Climbed Kilimanjaro with Frank John as our Chief Guide. Frank and his team (including Assistant Guides: Mango Sarakikya, Frank Boniface, and Cook: Elisante John), were magnificent, whether keeping us on track and at a good pace, waking us at five with a smile and warm water for washing, or bringing ginger pumpkin soup to us on the trail when we were too slow to make the lunch stop for the day.

The most amazing thing to see was the commitment of Frank, the assistant guides and the summit porters to getting our sons to the summit. Soon after starting our summit attempt on day five, Frank told us that to be successful they would have to carry the boys some of the way up the trail. And this is what they did, alternating who had a boy on their shoulders.

This dedication was evident in everything Frank and his team did. His leadership led to a very smooth experience for my family and me, allowing us to enjoy our experience and not worry about any logistics--except to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

My highest recommendations go to Frank John and Team Kilimanjaro.

As of a couple weeks ago, I can claim to have successfully completed the incredible journey towards reaching the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and returning safely -- and I would not have been able to do it without the help and expertise of our lead guide Frank, and his assistant Calvin.

Each day was well-planned, well-put, and well-executed as our group very quickly and comfortably settled into the groove of our 6-day trek. In reflection, it was clear to see the impact that Frank had on how perfectly our hike went. The guides cared for our health, our mood, our appetite, and our motivation with sincere enthusiasm and professionalism. They made sure that we were both physically and mentally prepared for each day that came, and put in extra effort in carrying extra supplies in case we ever needed them. We had no reservations with asking them questions, nor did they have any in candidly answering them. Frank's selected crew respected him and took care of us in the same way he did. And when it came to making modifications to our route, with respect to our health and readiness, Frank made very sound decisions and relayed them to us very effectively.

I had high expectations for this trip, and those expectations were met and exceeded -- again, thanks to our wonderful guides. Thanks Frank + Calvin! Thanks TK!

Reading through the other reviews of Frank, I found my self agreeing with pretty much everything everyone else was saying. Thank you Frank!
